Yesterday marked the end of my first week at Genentech. I was so tired last night I couldn't go out. I just went to bed at 11pm.

So far so good. I am really liking my job. I feel like I have things to do! My mentor is great! She has been so patient in explaining things which is so invaluable. I have met a lot of people there too and am trying desperately to remember everyone's name. They have a lot of fun at Genentech. I got invited to a pub midweek for this guy's (who I didn't even know) birthday. But it was a great way to meet and talk to people in my department. Oh and the best part is there is all this free food everywhere! And it's good food too! I don't really ever have to bring my lunch or buy it because every meeting comes with food! Yay!

I have to stop by today in the lab to check up on my experiment. My mentor said she could check it for me if I wanted so that I wouldn't have to stop in but I insisted on going myself. I feel like a mother and it's my baby.

Anyway, in other news....ummm... I haven't really been following the news lately. I needed a break from it because I was having a nervous breakdown from finals mixed in with ignorant people. I had to re-evaluate who I consider my friend and so I stopped keeping up on news because that would have further depressed me.

I am still working on getting a comment thing going because I would really like for people to be able to comment. Hopefully people will take the time to do so (the three people who read this)

"5000 years our people have waited (so far) to dance and jump".....sigh......maybe someday...probably not in my lifetime. But I am not complaining, *knock on wood* my life has been pretty good so far. I just look back to see what hell my relatives went through so that I could have such a wonderful life...knock knock knock...on wood.

I just saw the movie Adaptation. What a fucking weird ass movie. I liked it though.

Aside from that, I just reread what I wrote a few days ago on 5/23. I realized that I made what sounds like a big generalization about the Palestinian people. I am by no means trying to imply that I think they are all terrorists or that even the majority of them support the terrorism. I was very angry at the fact that as peace talks begin, the officials aren't doing more to control the terrorist organizations. I am certain that they can and the fact that they don't makes me so very angry. I feel that the people who are truly suffering from all this are the common Palestinians who are trying to survive but are subjected to checkpoints, occupation, curfews, etc all because of the vermon that are speaking in the name of Allah. Hah! Let Allah speak for himself.

I will leave with the following prayer: "Hu Yaseh Shalom Aleinu, Veh al Kol Israel, Veh imru Amen"

from Leno:
I’m sure you all watched Ruben win "American Idol” last night. Wasn’t that exciting. He looked good didn’t he? Did you know he lost 140 pounds last night. He got rid of Clay…hey!

LA TRIP WRAP UP

I'll list the topics I will discuss and you can just scroll down to the ones that interest you (hopefully one at least to will interest you)

1. Encounter with COPS in Lompoc

2. Israeli Rap

3. My plea to all Jews

1) To those of you who have always wondered how it is I never got pulled over, sweet justice is here. I was pulled over in Lompoc. The cop said I was "swerving" which may or may not have been true but I was not speeding damn it! Anyway, he thought I had been drinking which was not true. I had had a drink 2 hours before and so there was no way that I was in any way intoxicated. He was pretty nice about the whole thing. He realized I was just tired and so when I told him I was on my way to Motel 6 he seemed satisfied and said he would follow me there to make sure I made it safely. I told him that I had been following a friend and so I don't know where it is. That is when he offered that I follow him. No ticket thankfully! Phew!!!!

2) My brother burnt me a CD of Israeli Rap. As most singers and rappers, they write about things in their life. So this group talks a lot about peace and the situation in Israel. The lyrics of one song translate to this "Palestinian Arab and Argentinian Jew it doesn't matter we are all human beings. No one will leave here, no one will leave. No one will leave here so begin to love." Really nice song. Makes you think. Anyway, that was just one of the CDs I listened to on my drive back up. Others were Pink Floyd, David Fisher and The Eminem Show CD (great CD)

3) Every Jews' goal should be to find their way back to Israel. I am finding my way back and so should every Jew. Do whatever you can to support, love, honor, Israel because She is the only place where we are safe. Sounds a little backwards doesn't it with all that is going on there right now but it's true. The Jewish homeland is the only place where each Jew is truly safe.
