Spring Break almost over

Well as usual, I had a whole week to do a bunch of things and only got a few things done. *sigh* How annoying. Luckily, I seem to have less school work than my other friends who have major stuff due this upcoming week. Thankfully, I still have one more weekend till midterms. Phew! But I need to get my act together. I seem to be the most inefficient person. Time off ends up being walks around town with my parents or friends, rollerblading, watching TV, etc. I did manage to thoroughly clean my room. To those who know me, know that this was quite a project (I had a lot of crap to sift through). Oh and the car got a cleaning too. My room has already began to reclutter so I need to regulate before all my work was in vain. I also managed to file my taxes. This year I will be getting a small amount back which will go directly into Yael's Summer Kite Surfing fund. My hopes are that I can learn this summer while in Israel. Wouldn't that be amazing? I need to start doing some research into that. I'm not giving up on this one. So if you are in Tel Aviv and you see a girl pathetically trying to control a kite out on the water, please don't laugh. Thanks!

OK off to do more chores!
Title: "Hug Jews for a free Palestine"

The title intrigued me so I read. The more I read, the more I felt sick. I guess I should have known it would annoy me coming from a website entitled "Muslim Wakeup!". "Bay Area Jews celebrated the High Holy Days by renouncing their rights to Israeli Citizenship (Aliyah). They also voiced their opposition to a local Jewish organization for its role in promoting “Jewish-only” policies in Israel."

One of the founders of Jews for a free Palestine said, Judaism doesn’t support ethnic cleansing. We want the Palestinians, the people who lived on that land much longer and more recently than us, to have the same right of return that we do."

She makes it sound as though Israel is ethnically cleansing the Palestinian people. Is she crazy? Ethnic cleansing is killing based on an ethnicity or religion whereas the IDF does targeted killing of terrorists. If anyone is trying to ethnically cleanse anyone it would be the other way around. Innocent Jews are being targeted and killed by suicide bombers for no reason other than that they are JEWISH. Did I offend anyone by saying that? Oh well.

One of the members said, "I am here today to renounce Aliyah. I and many fellow Jews are horrified to see the violence that is going on in their name. Many want to stand up, but they are scared of being ostracized by the Israeli government or by mainstream Jewish organizations. The tactics that they claim are taking care of Jewish interests are tearing the Jewish community apart. JCF provides un-critical support for Israel. My mother was a civil rights activist; this is what being Jewish means to me. I want justice, not violence and oppression."

Barf. What is wrong with some of the Jews in the Bay Area? Renouncing their rights in Israel. That's fine. If God forbid anything at the magnitude of the Holocaust ever happens again, will they still be renouncing? Or will they seek refuge in Israel? Peace will come when people admit what is really going on.

The article goes on to try and explain the term Aliyah: The exclusionary “Jewish Law of Return.” Aliyah was created in 1950 by Israel. The law permits any Jewish person with a grandparent of Jewish heritage to emigrate and settle in Israel, often with large cash incentives, especially for moving to illegal settlements in occupied Palestine.

First of all, as far as I am aware, anyone who is even 1/8th ethnically Jewish is welcome to immigrate to Israel since they would have perished in Hitler's Europe. Also a lot of the land that ended up being part of partitioned into Israel was bought fair and square by Jews. I don't know then how it is that it was taken from anyone if it was bought. In addition, Israel is a JEWISH STATE! But that doesn't mean non-Jews can't live there. Muslims can live there too. Infact, over a million live within Israel itself. So how is it that Israel is so racist? Can a Jew live in a Muslim country? Most Muslim countries no. We cannot live in most Muslim countries. Not only that, we can't even visit many of them. Yep, these Jews that are part of this weird club have been "liberalized" and are completely screwed up in the head. Yea, and I don't care who I offended by saying that because I think it's true. Have they already forgotten what happened in Europe only fifty years ago? Not even fifty years ago. Did my grandfather's entire family perish in vain? For this reason, I do not feel bad by saying these people are mentally ill.

Nine Week Mark

Eight weeks till my birthday (and the semester is over) and nine weeks until I am on a plane to Eretz Israel! Cannot wait!
Good News from Israel website

I stumbled on this website and I LOVE IT! With all the negative attention Israel gets, the world doesn't even understand all the amazing things that happen in the Holy Land.

For example:

"Israel has the highest per capita ratio of scientific publications in the world by a large margin, as well as one of the highest per capita rates of patents filed. "

"The cell phone was developed in Israel by Motorola-Israel. Motorola built its largest development center worldwide in Israel. "

"AOL's instant message program was designed by an Israeli software company. "

The Ringu

I hate horror films. But I found myself in Mendocino at a friend's house and out voted to watch The Ringu which is the (Japanese) original version of "The Ring". Ugh. Scary shit. I don't like horror films or war films or any film that generally leaves me feeling shitty. I figure I can just read the news to get that feeling. Movies are made to uplift my spirits. Why do I need to go to bed all scared?

But other than that movie, I had a lovely time in Mendocino. My first time there and found it to be a very quaint town. My friend's boyfriend has a house there in the middle of the woods. We went on a little hike today after it rained most of the afternoon. And then, on the ride back we stopped at the beach and admired the beautiful Pacific Ocean. It was spectacular. The drive there was amazing too. All the twists and turns on highway 128 through the majestic forest. It was a little scarier on the way back since it was night time and I had seen that stupid movie the night before. I realized that had my car broken down we would have been stuck. No flashlight, no cellphone reception..nothing. I will fix this immediately. I will put an emergency kit in my car and advice people who don't already have one to also get one. That is my helpful tip of the day.

Mendocino, California

Well, I'm in the middle of spring break (haven't you noticed I have had more time to post? So many posts lately so read them :) I am off to Mendocino for the night to relax. Let you know how it goes.

"Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us"

Golda Meir said that almost fifty years ago, and apparently nothing has changed.

Title: "The Logic of Israel's Targeted Killing"

The article can be found here.

A few quotes that I found very interesting:

"...terror persists despite the assassinations, and the policy does have shortcomings. What is less apparent is the profound cumulative effect of targeted killing on terrorist organizations. Constant elimination of their leaders leaves terrorist organizations in a state of confusion and disarray. Those next in line for succession take a long time to step into their predecessors' shoes. They know that by choosing to take the lead, they add their names to Israel's target list, where life is Hobbesian: nasty, brutish, and short."

"Fighting terror is like fighting car accidents: one can count the casualties but not those whose lives were spared by prevention. Hundreds, if not thousands, of Israelis go about their lives without knowing that they are unhurt because their murderers met their fate before they got the chance to carry out their diabolical missions. This silent multitude is the testament to the policy's success."

Comments

I love getting comments from my readers. However, if you plan to call me names like "bastard" "imbecile" and other very rude names, you should at least leave an email address so that I can respond to the kindness. If you intend to leave a very hateful, anti-semitic, anti-Israel, and or anti-Zionist signature and comment especially without taking ownership on it, I will delete it. You further prove my theories that anti-semitism still thrives.

To everyone else, I love getting comments, even ones that may challenge what I have written.

Please read the entry following this for info on testosterone :)
Androgel

Politics sucks and quite frankly I don't want to think or read anymore about Yassin. He was a bastard and now he's gone. All I can hope is that God (and the IDF) will keep Israel safe (I pray for Israel's safety regardless of successful killings like this one.)

So we are moving on because that is life. The other day I was flipping through a magazine and came across the strangest ad. In big bold writing it states: "Fatigued? Depressed mood? Low sex drive? Could be your testosterone is running on empty." It had a very large gas gauge right next to it with the need pointing to Empty. Have you seen this ad? According to the ad "4-5 million American men have a medical condition called hypogonadism, or low testosterone...Fortunately you can replace testosterone with AndroGel which delivers natural testosterone in a gel that you simply rub into your skin"!! Sounds great, except, you flip over the ad to read the possible health risks.

Warning
1."Prolonged use of high doses of orally active 17-alpha-alkyl androgens has been associated with serious hepatic adverse effects (peliosis hepatis, hepatic neoplasms, cholastatic hepatities and jaundice). Peliosis hepatis can be a life-threatening or fatal coplication. Long-term therapy with testosterone enanthate, which elebates blood levels for prolonged periods, has produced multiple hepatic adenomas. Testosterone is not known to produce these adverse effects"

2. "Geriatric patients treated with androgens may be at an increased risk for the development of prostatic hyperplasia and prostatic carcinoma"

EEK. And those are just 2 of the 6 warnings.

More information on this drug can be found here

So why do I bring this up? Ever since I took a course on Endocrinology (the study of hormones) I have been very wary about drugs that use them especially in regards to sexual health. The hormone system in the human body is a very complicated one where a certain hormone can have one function in one tissue and induce a completely different response in another tissue. The levels of hormones are very strictly regulated and just a small change in the concentration of them in the blood can induce changes to the target tissue. For this reason, in my humble opinion, I am somewhat against birthcontrol pills and similar hormone drugs. I know for many people these pills have become like a ticket to freedom: regular periods, less cramping, and of course condom-free sex. But I just wonder sometimes how good it is to expose your body to levels of hormones it isn't suppose to have. Well, I am just thinking outloud here.

The Headline: "Arafat worries he's Israel's next target"

Well, he should be. Read the article here.

Sunday, March 21, 2004

AMEN!

Here's the headline: Hamas chief Ahmed Yassin killed in IAF strike in Gaza. Read the article here . Good riddens. Sorry, there will be no compassion from me for this piece of shit terrorist. On the other hand, I will not be parading in the street celebrating his death. I just hope that Arafat is shitting in his pants worried that he will be next. Your days are numbered you disgusting excuse for a human being.

Good work by the IAF who "witnesses said Israeli helicopters fired three missiles at Yassin and his bodyguards as they left the mosque. Yassin was killed instantly and up to seven bodyguards, reportedly including Yassin's son, were also said to have been killed. Hamas officials confirmed that Yassin had been killed."
