Hag Sameach...again

This time is so intense for religious Jews. Now it is Sukkot after Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. Next week there are even more holidays! The thought that keeps going through my mind is how the hell do religious Jews deal with all these holidays here in an American public university. I remember one of my friends would just leave for like a week and a half at Passover but he (no offense to anyone) had a pretty chill major. How do the engineers, physicists, chemists, etc tell professors that they are going to miss day after day of class and possibly exams...

I have been going around telling my professors I will be missing a whole week of school (since I am going to Israel). My engineering professor didn't even ask me where I am going. He was like, "oh, you'll miss the Western Blot lab but that's ok." I guess he didn't make it a big deal because we don't have an exam that week. I went on tuesday morning to my Sociology professor. I waited 45 minutes to talk to him and when I finally told him his answer was, "I don't let people make up tests." (I do have an exam that week for that class). I was like, "you don't understand, my one and only brother is getting married and we are all flying to Israel just for that!" So he looked at me and realized I was about to get desperate. I'm getting slightly sick of professors thinking they have as much power over my life as G-d. As though he was doing me this huge favor (which I guess he is!) he told me I could take it upon my return. What a guy. I will not miss this aspect of college. You always feel you are at the mercy of your professors' compassion. Oy.

Quiz

I have a quiz in about 10 minutes and I don't feel prepared...This is a weird feeling for me since I always feel at least like I have covered all the necessary material for tests. Ooof. I had trouble sleeping last night in part because of it. Yes, I realize what a nerd that makes me.

Anyway, wish me luck cuz apparently I will need it.

(I count down the days till Israel....)
