Israel's first Nobel Prize!!!

This is a big year for Israel and prizes. First, at the Olympics, Israel got its first gold medal. And today I read an article about Israel's first Nobel Prize. Most people hear Nobel Prize and think, "wow, that's incredible. Those people must have discovered something amazing." And they would be right in this case. Professors Aaron Ciechnover and Avram Hershko of the Technion University and Irwin Rose (an American) from UC Irvine have received the nobel prize for the discovery of ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation. Which unfortunately I dont have time to get into the details of what that means. But let's just say it's really cool and you can read up on it here .

The only other thing I want to throw out there about the Nobel Prize is this: it is usually (like everything else) a very political thing. The reason this is Israel's first may have to do more with politics than it does with the amazing scientific discoveries going on in Israel. Just keep that in mind.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

To my brother and his new wife! If I had a computer that would stop crashing so I could post some pictures to my blog, I would. But I don't, so in a few days I will post some to another website so that you can all feel like you were there. She was beautiful, he was, well he's my brother so he's not handsome. :) He's the guy that throughout my childhood was there for me every time I needed him for anything. And I watched as he made the biggest promise of his life- to take care of this woman for the rest of his life. A commitment I know he will honor because that's just the kind of guy he is. I watched my mother tear up, her mother tear up, and even the fathers' tear up. And yes, I too, was crying. All tears of joy.

The ceremony was held in San Diego, California and was the civil wedding. So don't panic people, there will be a Jewish ceremony B''H in Eretz Israel in 2 weeks. But as far as the state of California is concerned, they are HUSBAND and WIFE!
MAZAL TOV!
